Established in 1854 by John Henry Newman, UCD is ranked among Europe’s leading research-intensive universities. UCD has played an unparalleled role in the development of modern Ireland, and since 1922 has produced three presidents of Ireland, four prime ministers and six European Commissioners. Many of Ireland’s leading artistic, sporting and professional figures number amongst its alumni, including UCD’s most famous graduate James Joyce. The UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School is Ireland’s leading business school and among the top schools in Europe in both executive and full-time graduate education.
